DX Cluster

Tools, DX Cluster is the cluster as a list. The bandmap is the same spots drawn against frequency. Open either page and the browser connects to Cloudlog's cluster feed.

The badge at the top says Connecting, Connected, or Disconnected. Disconnected means the browser cannot reach the feed. It retries on its own.

The list

Columns are time, the spotted callsign, frequency, who spotted them, the comment, and how old the spot is. A spot drops off after about two hours.

Filters along the top:

  • Radio. The rig a click should tune. Same choice as on the logging screen. None means a click only shows you the frequency.
  • Band. One band, or all of them.
  • Mode. CW, SSB, or Digital. Cloudlog guesses this from the comment on the spot, and from the frequency when the comment does not say. A skimmer spot is treated as CW.
  • Hide RBN. On when you first open the page, so Reverse Beacon skimmers stay out of the list. If you set Mode to CW, this box is switched off and locked. Most CW spots are skimmers, and hiding them would empty the list.
  • New. All spots, anything that is a new DXCC or a new band, new DXCC only, or new band only. "New" is measured against the active station logbook.

The legend under the table is the tick marks: worked on this band, worked on another band, or not worked. A badge marks a new band or a DXCC entity you have never worked.

Click a frequency and, with a radio selected, Cloudlog asks that radio to move there. Hardware Interfaces is where the radio has to be connected first. A skimmer spot also asks for CW. The program on the shack PC, usually Cloudlog Aurora, is what turns that request into a tune.

The same spots, two other places

Bandmap, the button at the top, opens the bandmap in its own window. Spots leave the bandmap sooner than they leave this list: about half an hour, against two hours here.

General Logging can show a DX Cluster tab on the right-hand side. That tab is a switch on your account. It uses the same feed and the same filters, and it only connects once you open the tab.
