Backup

Your callsign, Backup. This is a copy of your own station locations, your station logbooks, and the contacts logged against them. Take one before an import, before you delete a location, and whenever losing the log would ruin the day.

The file is yours. Keep it somewhere that is not the same machine as Cloudlog. A second disc, a home computer, a memory stick in a drawer.

Picture needed: backup.png The Backup page. Download ZIP Backup at the top of the card, the file box, and Upload & Preview. If the yellow ZIP warning is showing, include it.

Download a copy

Download ZIP Backup. The file is named cloudlog_backup_ and then the date and time, and it is a zip. Cloudlog builds it and hands it to the browser. It is a copy of your data only. Other people on the same Cloudlog are left out.

What is in it:

  • Every station location, including the grid, the power, and the details stored on that location, such as the HRDLog login and the QO-100 key.
  • The contacts for those locations, including the confirmation marks.
  • Your station logbooks, and which locations sit in each one.

Notes, the country files, your account password, and the LoTW and eQSL logins on your account stay behind. Those are stored on the account. ADIF export is the other copy worth keeping. The zip opens in Cloudlog. ADIF opens in any logbook program.

If the page shows a yellow warning about the PHP ZIP extension, the download and the restore both need that module. Admin, Debug Information is where you can see whether ZIP is loaded.

A large log needs room to upload and time to run. Debug Information shows the upload size and the memory limit. If the download stops halfway, those are the numbers to raise.

Putting one back

Choose the zip, then Upload & Preview. Cloudlog lists every location and every logbook in the file, with a count of contacts beside each one. Everything is ticked. Untick anything you want left out, then Import Selected. You need at least one tick.

While it runs, the page says it is importing and asks you to wait. At the end it reports how many locations, logbooks, and contacts came in, and a list of anything it left alone.

A location that already exists, same callsign and same location name, is kept. Contacts from the file are added to that location. A new location is created and left switched off. You set the active location afterwards.

A logbook with the same name as one you already have is left as it is. A new logbook is created and left inactive. Set the active logbook yourself once the import has finished.

A contact already in the log, same callsign and same start time on that location, stays as it is. Those are listed under Conflicts. The rest are added.

Open Station Logbooks when it has finished and confirm each logbook still contains the locations you expect. Then set the active location and the active logbook.

The file Cloudlog downloads is the zip. If you have already unpacked it, the cloudlog_backup.json inside is accepted in the same file box.
